About This Grant

Living Jazz school residency program: 1) The Oakland Children’s Community Choir (OCCC) is an inspirational music education program that embeds music learning within classroom learning, and 2) A new, complementary pilot program that uses music from around the world to teach students the basic rhythmic skills that underlie all music learning, enhance their understanding of living in a multi-cultural world, and facilitate their transition into the Oakland Unified School District’s band and orchestra program.
