About This Grant

The Hawkins P-Patch, located in the heart of the Central District, has been in existence since 2005. The name honors the legacy of Samuel Hawkins, a well known African American man who lived in the neighborhood and loved to garden. The project with the help of community volunteers will build a new gate, and replace a rotting compost bin and repair a fence. This project will be completed by the end of the Summer.
