About This Grant

Hunger Intervention Program (HIP) is partnering with Lake City Farmers Market to offer free, fun activities for children. These include arts and crafts, science exhibits, and other STEM activities. In addition, HIP will also offer cooking demos and nutrition tips at the farmers' market to showcase fresh, seasonal produce from the market. The activities are in conjunction with HIP's Summer Meals program, which addresses food insecurity and promotes healthy eating for children under the age of 18 who are at risk of going hungry when schools are closed for the summer. This year, HIP is serving summer meals at twelve locations, including the Lake City Farmers Market, which runs once a week on Thursdays. This funding request is specifically for activities at the Lake City Farmers Market for the month of August, September, and October (up to ten market days). This funding will not be used for the summer meals program.
