About This Grant

The Sharing History through Active Reminiscence and Photo-imagery (SHARP) Seattle project partners with older Black adults in Seattle's Central District located at 500 30th Ave S. Seattle, to produce a culturally celebratory group walking experience incorporating physical, social, and reminiscence activities that promote brain health, while creating an oral history archive celebrating Black life in the neighborhood. In Summer 2022, 36 Black older adult volunteers will walk in small groups along the routes while recording their stories. The resulting digital oral history archive and routes will be shared broadly with the public via a community celebration, community outreach and a SHARP Seattle website. The project is free and open to the public.
